Call for Submissions, 2008 edition

Carolina Writes is sponsored by the South Carolina Council of Teachers of English, and is a publication for South Carolina students in grades K-12. Submission guidelines:
  1. One submission per student. Keep a copy of your submission.
  2. Each entry must be printed in black ink on plain white paper in Times New Roman 12 pt, single spaced, titled, properly edited, and no more than 750 words. List the name of the author, teacher, and grade level at the end of each entry. Entries not conforming to the above qualifications will be disqualified.
  3. Print and staple a completed copy of the entry form to each submission.
  4. Mail a printed copy of the submission along with the printed entry form to the address below.
  5. Send an electronic copy of the submission to Janie Riddle Goodman using Microsoft Word.
  6. The student's English Language Arts teacher must verify the authenticity of the work by printing and signing her or his full name on the entry form. The student must sign the form as well, verifying that the work is original and has not been previously published.
  7. Judges will choose entries based on originality, content, voice, and style. Judges are unaware of schools or geographical areas while reading.
  8. Only published students and their teachers will receive a hard copy of Carolina Writes, which also will be available on-line. We will send an e-mail message to all students whose entries are accepted for publication.
