SCCTE 2020 Conference: Reading the Past;
Writing the Future
Embassy Suites Conference Center
Myrtle Beach, SC

A perusal of the news each day brings numerous reminders of the vital work we do as English teachers. In order to help students become more informed, critical, and empathetic citizens, we invite them to read the voices of the unfamiliar, to imagine how our choices today can inform our future, and to delve into the past in order to develop a nuanced understanding of our present. Furthermore, we know that active citizens must also be agile and powerful writers who know how to reach out to real audiences in order to shape the future.
Opportunity for Advanced Placement Teachers
The SCCTE conference will once again offer sessions for Advanced Placement English teachers to participate in scoring training and simulated scoring of essays written by their own students. Since the rollout of AP English resources from the College Board includes new analytic rubrics that will be used in scoring essays starting with the 2020 AP exam administration, this will be a great opportunity for AP English Language and Literature teachers to get more comfortable with this new approach to scoring.
We are excited to announce that our annual conference will be held at the oceanfront Embassy Suites in Myrtle Beach.
This new location offers an array of accommodations and additional space for sessions and exhibitors--we think you are going to love it!
