WELCOME !

Established in 1947, the South Carolina Council of Teachers of English is the state affiliate for the NCTE. We are a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting and enhancing English language arts instruction in the state of South Carolina. Members include preservice, current, and retired classroom teachers, administrators, instructional coaches, and support personnel at all levels — kindergarten, elementary, middle school, high school, and college.

The South Carolina Council of Teachers of English (SCCTE) is excited to welcome you back to Kiawah Island for the 2025 SCCTE conference.  Building on the excitement of the 2024 SCCTE conference, the theme for 2025 is "Gather Together, Grow Together" because we know that it takes collaboration, research, and innovation to support our students and to develop our craft.

Growth is about embracing sustainable change for ourselves, our profession, and our students; similar to the varied sessions, keynote speakers, featured sessions, and highlight sessions, growth can take many forms and requires support.  As you consider your proposal for our 2025 SCCTE conference, consider the opportunities for growth not only for your students and school but also for English language arts in our communities and state.  What does sustainable growth look and feel like?  How do we seek inclusive opportunities for growth?  What environments and resources do we use to support growth?  How do we measure and celebrate growth?  In what ways can we advocate for support and change?

Submit your proposal by 11:59pm on Friday, May 31, 2024. The conference will be held on Jan 31- Feb 1, 2025 at the Kiawah Island Resort West Conference Center.
